About Us Organisational Structure of Nenagh Credit Union




  • Members – A credit union is a democratic financial co-operative where the control lies equally with each member.
  • Board of Directors – The Board of Directors is responsible for the general control, direction, and management of the credit union. You must be a member to be a Director. The Board of Directors, once elected, assigns the various committee membership and appoints its principal posts such as Chairperson and Secretary.
  • Board Oversight Committee – The Board Oversight Committee oversees the performance of the Board of Directors.
  • Auditor – The Auditor independently verifies and certifies the books, deeds, documents and accounts of the credit union.
  • Credit Committee – The Credit Committee considers and decides on loan applications from members
  • Credit Control Committee – The function of the Credit Control Committee is to monitor the repayment of loans to members in accordance with their loan agreements.
  • Membership Committee – The membership committee review and prepare membership applications for Board approval.
  • Strategic Planning & Youth Committee – The function of Strategic Planning & Youth Committee is to prepare and monitor the implementation of the Strategic Plan, as well as reviewing the performance of the Credit Union against the measurements defined in the Plan and assessing on a regular basis how the strategic objectives of the Credit Union are being achieved.
  • Nomination Committee – The Nomination Committee is responsible for identifying candidates to be nominated for appointment to the Board of Directors and to ensure that there is an appropriate succession plan in place for the Board of Directors.
  • Investment Committee – The function of the Investment Committee is to manage the investment portfolio of the credit union and to ensure that it is compliant with the relevant regulations.
  • Money Laundering Reporting Officer – The Money Laundering Reporting Officer is responsible for reporting any suspicious transactions or suspected money laundering.
  • Training Officer – The Training Officer helps the credit union to understand the training needs of its personnel and to source it.
  • Technology Committee - The Technology Committee’s function is to assist the Board in matters of IT and involves the evaluation of systems and hardware as well as ensuring the employment of best practice in IT systems and operations and security matters.
  • Management/Staff – Management and Staff are responsible for the day to day running of the office and assist the Board and various committees in their work.
